This card is a bomb in any format it is in at the have to try it.

This card + sacrifice outlet + persist creature with relevant ETB trigger = GG

Company and friends is the new pod with this fresh Anafenza. Wizards once again didn't predict how some cards can be sick in modern

This card is awesome in the current Standard in Mono White Devotion and in B/W Warriors, but with the next rotation it can be so much more :D It's a nice bet for the next expansion.

This works great in Standard, together with stuff that loves counters, like Chronicler of Heroes or any creature that adds abilities (lifelink, first strike) to those with the counters.

Another card with great potential but I don't think it has enough for Modern playability

Darkiwi(2015-05-08 14:44)

In Modern, this card makes a good combo with persist creatures such as Kitchen Finks.
Along with Collected Company and Melira, Sylvok Outcast, it revived the old Birthing Pod combo deck.

Bolster itself doesn’t target any creature, though some spells and abilities that bolster may have other effects that target creatures. For example, you could put counters on a creature with protection from white with Aven Tactician’s bolster ability.

In the modern format this card is used as a replacement for "melira, sylvok outcast" in terms of the "kitchen finks"/"viscera seer" combo. Once you have the three cards in play, the iteration goes as follows:

1. sacrifice "kitchen finks" to "viscera seer" -> scry trigger goes on the stack
2. kitchen finks dies -> persist trigger goes on the stack
3. kitchen finks returns to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter -> "anafenza, kin-tree spirits" triggers bolster, kitchen finks triggers lifegain
4. gain 2 life
5. since kitchen finks only has one toughness at that moment you put a +1/+1 on it through bolstering
6. the +1/+1 and the -1/-1 counter on kitchen finks cancel each other out
7. scry 1 from viscera seer
8. repeat

this combo gives you "infinite" life and "infinite" scry, which you can use to find "murderous redcap" for the same combo, but with "infinite" damage to your opponent.

Why You Too Should Play European Highlander

ConstructedBy Ratix (2020-01-06)

Before Commander caught on, players had already been enjoying a singleton format for years. It was named Highlander — originally for the catchphrase of the 1986 cult classic which stipulates that "There can be only one," but the format also seems to want to live forever.
