Choke is not nearly as "evil" as Blood Moon. Blood Moon affects all non basic lands (i.e. any Modern deck that plays more than one color). Choke only affects islands and should thus be strongest against mono blue decks. The most popular mono blue deck in Modern is Merfolk and even they have enough "other lands" (Mutavault, Oboro, Minamo) and Aether Vial to still play cards under Choke. Also, Choke lands on turn three at the earliest. At this time, Merfolk should have deployed quite some threads. Thus it is not this card's power level is not nearly close to Blood Moon.

Nice card but don't listen people saying this card is bad for modern or abusive. It's a nice side card against deck playing blue but even merfolk (which is a heavy island deck) has way to deal with it.

they say choke is bad for modern cause punishs blue decks for playing basics .. im sry this card punishs CC mana.I consider less abussive then Blood Moon that can punish fare decks .. while choke punishs only greedy decks that wanna get 3 islands at turn 4!

Choke is the most abusive card against blue decks ever printed. So frustrating.

Four Underrated Sideboards for the Current Modern Meta

ConstructedBy HansD (2018-11-20)

Premodern: Why Is It Becoming Popular and Where Is It Headed

ConstructedBy Elric (2018-09-25)

Premodern is an "old school" balanced format for nostalgic players but is not too expensive nor too limited when it comes to its card pool. Its future will depend on the players that it will attract, as well as the overall support it will get.

Five Food for Thought When Sideboarding in Modern

ConstructedBy HansD (2018-03-20)

The last time I wrote about sideboarding in Modern, I focused on the “don'ts” rather than the “do's”. The feedback I got from my readers regarding that piece suggested that I write a piece on the do’s. Without further ado, I want to jump right into the five most important things a player should consider when sideboarding in Modern!

This deck is great at disabling or at least delaying the most unfair plans the other Modern decks bring to the table.
