@Tezzeret: but you're not obligated to find all four.

If a card tutors for any unspecified card (i.e. Demonic Tutor, Intuition), you *have* to find one. Because there are still 1 or more (Demonic Tutor) or 3 or more (Intuition) cards in your library 99% of the time, and you can't say "I don't find 1 card" if there are still cards in the deck.

But if a specification is made, you can 'fail to find'. If you activate Flooded Strand, you can just shuffle your library without putting a plains/island in play if you want. Even if there still is one of them in your library; because you can just claim 'I don't find anymore plains' even if that's not true. This is perfectly legal btw.

For the same reason, because Gifts Ungiven says: four cards WITH DIFFERENT NAMES, you could have a whole library of only Relentless Rats or only Basic Island in your deck, and not be able to find 4 different cards.

So you find 2 cards with different names (for example Unburial Rites + Griselbrand, or Unburial Rites + Iona, Shield of Emeria) & "fail to find" the other 2 cards. Your opponent has to put 2 cards in your graveyard, so you are guaranteed to flashback & reanimate Iona/Grisel.

I don't understand your comment HUGO87, says "Search for four" not "up to four"...

hugo87(23.05.2015 21:05)

If you just search two cards, they will go to the graveyard. You don't have to find all four.

By HansD (2018-03-20)
