Great Artwork as you would expect from Rob Alexander anyway. The Cold Mountains with a Gate to the Underworld or maybe the darkest Depths of the Mountain reminds me alot of Lord of the Rings.

prinsallan(25.03.2021 14:37)

I feel sorry for those who sold these for 1-2€ Each. Will probarbly sell for 20€ before 2024.

Moonlitsanctum(12.11.2020 16:37)

Raijundu(21.01.2020 21:37)

This time, it's the tale of three animals: a Serpent, a Wolf, and a Squirrel.

By Rone (2021-03-03)

Kaldheim has landed in Standard for Go(o)d. While some top-tier decks didn't change all that much, snow, Sagas, foretell, and a bunch of other cards have left their mark on the format! Today we will look at the best strategies that have emerged thanks to the snowest set ever printed.

Control Decks in Post-Ban Modern

By Skura (2021-02-25)

It was barely a month ago that control variants utterly dominated the Modern metagame. But the recent banned and restricted announcement shook the archetype's very foundations. Will it be able to hold on to its tier one position despite the changes? Can it adapt? Let's look at decklists!

Playmat Icons: Demons

By Kumagoro (2021-02-24)

Tormentor of souls, brokers of deals, or just plain deliverers of vicious brutality, Demons often make for the scariest presence on the battlefield. They come in all sinister shapes and horned forms, and black is their favorite color. So if you're willing to strike a bargain with them, be ready to plunge into darkness.

Three Modern Decks to Play After the Bans

By ElonThragtusk (2021-02-23)

A Vintage Brewer's Diary: 2020 in Review, Part 1

By TDD (2021-01-26)

2020 is finally behind us. As paper play was suspended, many Magic players found their way to Magic Online and Arena. Some of us Vintage boomers, however, still crave the smell of ancient cardboard. Shuffling around those broken spells. Knocking the top of the deck when we need to hit something good …

Kaldheim Spotlight: Valki // Tibalt

By Rone (2021-01-18)

With Kaldheim, the snowiest plane of all, Tibalt returns to Magic history—and to make history himself. Disguised as Valki, the God of mischief, trickery, and lies, he makes for the first ever modal double-faced card showcasing a creature/planeswalker, ready to boost every Rakdos archetype across all formats.

Playmat Icons: Angels

By Kumagoro (2020-12-17)

When they're not announcing immaculate conceptions or decorating festive trees, Angels are the bringers of swift, evasive judgment in all combinations of white. Ethereal beings made of pure mana, these exquisite creatures have graced many Magic decks throughout the years — with no rest and no mercy, no matter what.

Lessons Learned at the Zendikar Rising Championship

By K_Prinz (2020-12-15)

After a less than stellar 0-4 drop at the Zendikar Rising Championship, it's time to reflect upon mistakes made, so you can learn from them as well. Indeed there's plenty opportunity for improvement, both in preparation and execution. Here's a brief tournament report, of sorts, for a brief tournament.

My Decks for the Zendikar Rising Championship

By K_Prinz (2020-12-03)

I am explaining my deck choice(s) for the Zendikar Rising Championship. It's the biggest and most important tournament left this year, potentially providing a way into the MPL or Rivals. Since Standard is mostly settled, let's focus on Historic following the introduction of Kaladesh Remastered.

Commander Legends: Rograkh and Ardenn's Equipped Attack

By RyanS (2020-12-01)

So when a red legendary zero-drop commander with partner joins forces with a white legendary creature that cares about equipment, you know it's going to be fun. Check out this Rograkh and Ardenn tech, fresh from Commander Legends!

By HarryKhoo (2020-11-17)

While the overall Gruul strategy might cost nothing for most of you, we are also looking at cheap replacements (that save your Wildcards) and how to sideboard against other top tier decks.

The Many Flavors of Modern Control

By Skura (2020-11-17)

Modern has always been known for being the most open and diverse competitive Magic format, and this time it's not any different. In this article, we want to look at a bunch of different Cryptic Command control decks, including some lesser-known variants, that are part of the metagame right now.

Omnath's Life Beyond Standard

By Rone (2020-11-12)

While the marquee card of Zendikar Rising only lasted three weeks in Standard and on MTG Arena, Omnath, Locus of Creation can redeem itself by being a playable but not completely busted contender in other formats. Pioneer, Modern, and even Legacy — we review every Omnath strategy!

Gruul Adventures Deep Dive

By K_Prinz (2020-11-09)

The last few weekends were headlined by a pretty good Gruul performance. Gruul Adventures was also one of the more successful choices in the Arena Open. So let's analyze every card in the deck and its purpose. This way, building and adapting Gruul decks for the coming weeks should be an easier task.

Kroxa, the Crux of Standard

By Rone (2020-10-26)

With Uro and Omnath off of Standard's menu, it's finally time for other strategies to shine. Rakdos Midrange has emerged as a serious competitor and as an early frontrunner in the current format. Let's unveil all the raw power the deck has to offer and review some sideboard tips and tricks.

My Decks for the 2020 Season Grand Finals

By K_Prinz (2020-10-08)

This year's Worlds replacement involves six rounds of both Standard and Historic against the best of the best. Time to find two decks — all in the short timeframe since Zendikar Rising's release and the recent ban. Does anything beat Omnath in Standard? And what about the much broader format that is Historic?

The New Scourge of Modern

By ElonThragtusk (2020-10-07)

Scourge of the Skyclaves is one of those cards that look busted at first glance but require extensive testing before it is possible to reach any definite conclusion. Now, a few weeks after the release of Zendikar Rising, we have the results and can definitely say that the verdict is in.

Will Omnath Keep Dominating Standard?

By ElonThragtusk (2020-09-30)

There was finally a good enough reason to pull the trigger and ban Uro, Titan of Nature's Wrath. However, right now, the new Omnath decks appear to be much more problematic and much less reliant on Uro than the banning would suggest. Is there any chance this still balances out the Standard format?

Bringing the Party to Standard

By ElonThragtusk (2020-09-23)

Apparently, you have to fight … for your right to party. The brand-new mechanic is a little hard to make work in the context of 60-card decks, but the potential rewards are plentiful. Let us take a look at party and other tribal shenanigans in the updated Standard format with Zendikar Rising.

Field of the Dead in Modern

By Skura (2020-09-22)

Field of the Dead has been terrorizing a bunch of different formats in Magic over the past year, and it got itself banned from several. Recently, to the surprise of many, it has also had an increasingly meaningful impact on Modern. Let's explore the various Field shells that currently populate the format.

Temur Reclamation Goes Wild in Pioneer

By Rone (2020-09-15)

Temur Reclamation was one of the best performing decks over the last year in Standard. Recently banned even before rotation, the strategy has found a new format to conquer. Right now it stands as the king of the hill in Pioneer. Let's take a closer look at the current trend and possible futures.

Zendikar Rising Spotlight: Valakut Awakening

By BrentT (2020-09-03)

Zendikar Rising previews kicked off in earnest this week with the unveiling of a new type of double-faced card coming to Standard. Valakut Awakening in particular is a flexible and powerful spell with a never before seen side to it. Let's break down why it's so good and take a look at some deck ideas.

Rotation Preparation: Cycling et Cetera in Boros

By ElonThragtusk (2020-08-25)

Boros was always in this weird spot during the current Standard cycle. Red-white decks usually started off with solid results, only to drop off the map later on. Having avoided the bans and mostly able to avoid the rotation, will these builds get the attention they deserve in the future?

Rotation Preparation: Temur and Other Adventures

By Rone (2020-08-18)

Standard rotation is just five weeks away, which will restart the format for good. When looking for decks to play, Adventure variants from Throne of Eldraine will remain largely intact, a Block Constructed shell that becomes tier one. Let's find out about the different versions available.

Rotation Preparation: Monogreen and More Beatdown

By ElonThragtusk (2020-08-12)

It is never too early to prepare for rotation. Upon the release of Zendikar Rising next month, there will only be five Standard-legal sets and, inevitably, a whole new metagame. Here are three monocolored beatdown decks that are rotation-proof and may be real contenders for the new Standard.

Commander on a Budget: Brudiclad, Telchor Engineer

By RyanS (2020-08-04)

If you ever wanted to play with a powerful Izzet commander but did not want to break the bank doing so, check out this budget build of Brudiclad. Here's a deck focused on making copies and tokens of powerful threats to overwhelm your opponents. The best part is that the whole thing costs just about 37 euros.

Jumping into Historic with Jumpstart

By Kumagoro (2020-07-27)

The allure of the peculiar Arena format is stronger than ever — both in digital form and in the real world, where Historic playing groups have started to emerge. The debut of Jumpstart, which was made Historic-legal on Arena, is yet another reason to have a look at this now suddenly supercharged format.

Transmogrify in Standard and Modern

By ElonThragtusk (2020-07-22)

Polymorph is back in a Standard-legal set, but in a new form. It's now red and exiles a creature rather than destroying it with no possibility of regeneration. That's it. The rest is completely the same. So, what does this mean for the whackier end of deck design in Standard and Modern?

Slinging Spells in Standard and Modern Izzet Tempo

By ElonThragtusk (2020-07-15)

Recent sets, such as Ikoria and Core Set 2021 impacted the metagames of multiple formats, but they also made way for some interesting non-meta strategies. One of the most prominent candidates is Izzet Spells, a tempo deck that can be easily tuned to become an aggro and/or even a budget deck.

Standard Data Fresh from Red Bull Untapped

By TobiH (2020-07-14)

When it comes to generating meaningful data, nothing compares to an actual big tournament. With about 1,300 players, Red Bull Untapped's recent International Qualifier definitely qualified. Straight from the source, here's information on the metagame and several key performance indicators!

Return to Tabletop: Summertime Modern

By Rone (2020-07-09)

Modern's metagame has been shifting a lot since last year when Modern Horizons completely warped the format. After the companion fiasco, it's time to test out the tabletop experience adapted to the new normality. Here are some thoughts about recent strategies and about how to play with social distancing.

Ramp and Let Die: Budget Fastbond in Vintage

By Dr-Exhume (2020-06-29)

Vintage can be fun and relatively cheap? Is that true? Indeed, you can build a pair of Vintage decks for less than many Modern decks and you can even steal some games with them. Let's take a look at two Fastbond shells and revisit a couple of common misconceptions about Magic's oldest format.

M21 Spotlight: Conspicuous Snoop

By ElonThragtusk (2020-06-18)

Thanks to Modern Horizons and Core Set 2020, Vial Goblins has become an option in Modern, albeit with no major success so far. That may soon change, however, as Core Set 2021 provides us with a Goblin that was cause for much hype already and caused an older card to spike. How about a combo kill on turn three?

Commander on a Budget: Rith, the Awakener

By RyanS (2020-06-16)

The Ur-Dragon is definitely the ultimate Dragon tribal commander. However, if you are playing on a budget, it's not the only option. Here's how Dragons can be effective, even when they are missing two colors. Check out this Naya Dragon tribal Commander deck led by Rith, the Awakener.

M21 Spotlight: Chandra's Incinerator

By ElonThragtusk (2020-06-15)

It looks like M21 is a core set of the kind most of us have wanted for a long time. Flavorful, full of unexpected reprints, and filled with interesting cards — we're definitely in for a treat. One of the crazier cards has to be Chandra's Incinerator, but evaluating its potential is no small task …

M21 Spotlight: Trouble at the Mill

By JohnnyCroat (2020-06-10)

Core Set 2021 brings about some changes to terminology. Wizards of the Coast let the Dogs out, and now, 26 years after the original Millstone, the word "mill" finally becomes a keyworded action. The first proper card to showcase the new wording may find some application in Standard too!

Forgotten Heroes

By Rone (2020-06-03)

Do you remember the first Magic creature that became the centerpiece of your deck? After all these years, so many iconic heroes have fallen by the wayside, overshadowed by better and newer alternatives. Today we pay tribute to a whole bunch of those that will forever live on in our memory if not in our decks.

Winota Rider Caught Stealing (Again?)

By ElonThragtusk (2020-05-28)

To win in today's Standard, there seem to be two rules: you better have a companion, and you also should have a good way of cheating Agents of Treachery into play. However, it appears that just meeting the second condition may be enough. The fastest way to a bargain steal is of course to enlist the help of Winota.

The Certainty of Vivien

By Kumagoro (2020-05-19)

A minor subtheme of Ikoria seems to be the cheating of permanents from the library directly onto the battlefield, also known as what Grafdigger's Cage doesn't want you to do. Lukka proceeds onward to higher mana costs, while the new Vivien takes the opposite approach. Let's see how efficiently and to what end.

Piercing Prey in Modern with Gruul Obosh

By ElonThragtusk (2020-05-18)

Every time Ponza, the red-green posterboy of Modern, becomes viable, it disappears again rather quickly. Despite its upsides, it often struggles to close the game, while the prevalence of Astrolabe isn't helping either. Against all odds, it enjoyed a glorious return to the spotlight recently, thanks to Ikoria.

Upgrading Ruthless Regiment on a Budget

By RJGiel (2020-05-15)

Humans? Check. Aristocrats? Check. The Ruthless Regiment preconstructed Commander deck is a great option to play straight out of the box. But it's easy to improve, even on a limited budget. Let's take a look at some affordable and effective upgrades, so that you can better hold your own in your Commander playgroup.

Obosh, the New Standard in Rakdos

By ElonThragtusk (2020-05-12)

Although Lurrus started the companion craze, Obosh quickly followed and even surpassed the Cat in some respects! Such is the case with the Sacrifice archetype, which now has the Preypiercer among its trump cards. But the deck wouldn't be as successful without a way of bridging the gap between Obosh and its early game.

Cycling All Over Standard (and Pioneer)

By ElonThragtusk (2020-05-08)

While Ikoria may have looked mostly weird at first, it mostly looks bonkers now. Next to companions, Standard has another new menace that started off somewhat overlooked: the Boros Cycling deck. Whether you're new to the format or not, it should represent a consideration. Here's why.

The Rise of Lukka

By Kumagoro (2020-05-07)

Ikoria had a big impact on Standard, inspiring a number of spicy brews. Cycling decks, mutate synergies, and the radical innovation of the companions are all front and center in the conversation, eclipsing the role of the three new planeswalkers. But at least one of them is already making strides to the top.

Yorion, a Nomad Mad for Standard

By BrentT (2020-04-30)

When companions were initially released, Yorion, Sky Nomad sort of flew under the radar because obviously busted Lurrus and Gyruda claimed the spotlight first. But the Standard metagame moves fast and now we're seeing Yorion variants rise to the top. Let's take a look at a couple of decks running an extra twenty cards.

Lurrus, the Standard King

By Rone (2020-04-28)

"Everything you see exists together in a delicate balance. As king, you need to understand that balance and respect all the creatures, from the crawling Dinosaur Hippo to the leaping Bird Serpent." Well, maybe that's not exactly what Mufasa said. Either way, Lurrus of the Dream-Den apparently "can't wait to be king."

Commander on a Budget: Stonebrow, Krosan Hero

By RyanS (2020-04-21)

This time, at Commander on a Budget, we build a Gruul deck with a trample tribal theme, inspired by a new card from Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths. Quartzwood Crasher cares about creatures with trample and creates even more creatures with trample. All cards used for the deck cost a maximum of two Euros apiece.

Ikoria Spotlight: Vivien, Monsters' Advocate

By Rone (2020-04-14)

In case you missed it, the biggest monsters of all time are waiting for you in the next Magic set, Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths. If you need someone's advice facing them, Vivien Reid is the perfect companion for this journey. Today we are reviewing the main protagonist's new card and its future applications.

Ikoria Spotlight: Zilortha, Strength Incarnate

By ElonThragtusk (2020-04-09)

Pretty much every Magic set brings us both powerful and underwhelming cards. When a card's power level is hard to evaluate, experiments become desirable. Because of that, let's dig into some Standard Gruul decks both new and old and see if Zilortha really is as strong as its name suggests.

Ikoria Spotlight: Competitive Constructed Companions

By TobiH (2020-04-07)

Ikoria's new ability companion adds a touch of the Commander experience to regular Magic. You can reveal one companion from your sideboard before each game, if your presented deck matches the card's specified restriction, and then cast it from there once during that game. Let's look at implications and decks.

The Good, the Bad, and the Underrated: A Lhurgoyf Tribute

By Dr-Exhume (2020-03-25)

"Ach! Hans, run! It's the Lhurgoyf!" The sound of these words is smoother than any other flavor text to my ears. With this article I want to pay tribute to a creature tribe that many people know best for its poster child, the Tarmogoyf. But let us not forget about its relatives.

Playing with Other People's Stuff: A Rakdos Commander Deck

By RyanS (2020-03-11)

In part two of playing with other people's stuff, Ryan gives us a Rakdos deck tech all about "threatening" your opponents' creatures and using them as fodder for your own sacrifice outlets. After all, the best value to generate is value you don't have to pay for yourself!

Breaking the Mold: Having Fun in Modern

By SamuelS (2020-02-27)

By JohnnyCroat (2020-01-14)

Why You Should Play Titan Shift in Modern in 2020
