This card was previously the "Red-headed stepchild" of the Khans cycle given the dominance of Abzan in the Theros-Tarkir environment, but wouldn't you know its price has actually gone up lately? The reason being that the RG Landfall and Atarka Red strategies will all have a playset of this card, and in a format dominated by Esper and Jace, Vryn's Prodigy, decks that can come out of the gate swinging get to come back into meta.

But even then, the banning of Dig Through Time in Legacy probably also had a hand in that spike - because when Dig leaves, Punishing Jund gets to be a deck again, and as a result this card has never been stronger.

MagicTAC1(2015-05-08 16:27)

a must have in any green/red deck, and even playable in standard!

Darkiwi(2015-05-08 16:22)

Allied fetchlands were initially printed in Onslaught and therefore not legal in Modern.
Their reprint in Khans of Tarkir made them legal in Modern and also dropped their price, making them more afordable.

Fetchlands are the base of the manabase of every modern multicolored deck, get a playset of each as soon as you can!

The Future of Dark Confidant and Modern Jund

EntertainmentBy HansD (2019-07-25)

Midrange decks are built with the metagame in mind and are thus highly customizable. Regardless, even the most customizable of these decks still play core cards that are integral to the deck’s gameplan. Very rarely, in a non-rotating format such as Modern, does a new card come along that displaces the current best-in-slot card for a midrange deck. With the printing of Wrenn and Six in Modern Horizons, I believe that Dark Confidant has found himself as the odd man out after years of being a Jund mainstay.

From the Vault: Kaalia

Taking a Second Look at Modern Jund

ConstructedBy HansD (2019-06-25)

Modern has changed in the five years I’ve been playing and following it, and some decks that used to be on top of the dogpile have found themselves kicked off their perch. As Modern has become more powerful, aggressive, and linear, many of the fair, interactive decks that reigned supreme have gone the way of the dinosaur. Jund is one of these decks that has been pushed out more and more by the changes in the metagame, but Modern Horizons has brought along a good number of new toys that warrant giving this battered archetype a second chance.

#TwitterBuildsModern Episode Two: The Drudge of Dredge!

EntertainmentBy JohnnyCroat (2019-03-29)

Graveyard decks come in many shapes and sizes. There's Living End, which is usually brought back out for a spin every time some new cool ETB effects get printed. UB Storm is in effect a graveyard deck, relying on Past in Flames in order to be able to recycle a big heap of cheap cantrips so as to generate massive card advantage and storm count. There's Dredge itself, happy to dump as many cards into the bin as possible, and then cheating several itty bitty bothersome monsters into play, which have a tendency to come back turn after turn after turn. So then, how does this relate to Maze's End? Read on!
