Lest you forgot, the Masterpiece Series came back in Guilds of Ravnica. But they came in a separate, difficult-to-obtain booster box called Guilds of Ravnica Mythic Edition. We're still in Ravnica so, naturally, we get more Masterpiece planeswalkers in Ravnica Allegiance. Like its predecessor, Ravnica Allegiance Mythic Edition is basically an upgraded booster box, which means it's great for drafting. It will similarly have eight full-art planeswalkers from throughout Magic's history.
This time, the eight planeswalkers that you will find are:
Ravnica Allegiance Mythic Edition goes on sale with a manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) of approximately 249,99 € on 24 January 2018.
Karn, Scion of Urza might be new, but he's already established himself as a powerful contender, seeing play across multiple formats in everything ranging from fringe to tier decks. He's still not quite liberated yet though, given the red tunic.
Tamiyo, the Moon Sage and Sorin Markov have not seen too much competitive play. But they are strong inclusions in any Commander deck that can run them, having extremely powerful effects for the slower format. Sorin Markov, in particular, can do 30 damage the turn he comes down by setting an opponent's life to 10.
Dack Fayden is a Legacy and Vintage powerhouse with potentially the most powerful steal effect in the history of Magic, for Vintage at least. The ability to steal artifacts is quite potent in formats where time vaults, Moxen, and a plurality of powerful artifacts dominate.
Like in the previous Mythic Edition, planeswalkers from the respective Ravnica set, Ravnica Allegiance, are also featured in this set. The new Kaya, Orzhov Usurper and Domri, Chaos Bringer offer an early chance at a specialty version of their less flashy counterparts.
Overall, this expansion has slightly less value than its previous incarnation. But that doesn't mean its value is lower. These boxes are very difficult to get in Europe and the GRN Mythic Edition is worth significantly more than the MSRP here in Europe.
