It's a Cruel Summer
Three drops have particularly caught the attention of Magic fans around the globe. One of those was Phyrexian Praetors: Complete Edition featuring all five of the Phyrexian Preators from New Phyrexia adorned with text in Phyrexian script. Previously, only Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite was the only Praetor who had gotten this unique treatment as a Judge Promo. And though Elesh Norn was followed in Kaldheim by Vorinclex, Monstrous Rider, the Complete Edition was the first to feature the original Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger.
Pool Side Summer Magic and the Mother of All Comebacks
For fans of old school Magic art, two other drops hit a particular dry spot of delivering cards illustrated by original artists from the earliest days of the game. Dan Frazier delivers art for the entire cycle of both Enemy Signets and Allied Signets printed with Old Frame and backgrounds referencing his pieces for the five Moxen in Limited Edition Alpha, giving Commander players around the world yet another way to bling out their mana bases.
If not quite hailing back to the days of Alpha, another beloved artist with a long history of illustrating magical cardboard is Rebecca Guay. And as luck would have it, Guay has accepted to illustrate a new playset of Mother of Runes, making up the Mother’s Day 2021 drop.
Furthermore, the All-Natural, Totally Refreshing Superdrop sees two award-winning comic book artists featured in each their Secret Lair Drop. Jen Bartel and Fiona Staples illustrates, respectively, four and five cards. The staples contained, among others, are Soul-Scar Mage and Spell Queller.
Saturday Morning Dungeons & Dragons delivers that old-school cartoon-ey feel with loads of action. For example, Impact Tremors could find use in a slightly updated version of the good old Fruity Pebbles deck.
As with every Secret Lair drop, the An All-Natural, Totally Refreshing Superdrop is only on sale for a very limited time. If you missed it, it’s gone forever - or is it? You can luckily always find your copies of any special printing of the cards up for sale right here on Cardmarket!
