Iconic Masters Prerelease at Hascon
One just can't step away for a week without a set getting spoiled these days.
HASCON is happening on the other side of the pond at the moment, which means that a lot of information about future product will be spoiled. Panels like the 25th Anniversary Show won't be the only source of information though. The unique Prerelease of Iconic Masters, which is also happening there, will reveal the entire set nearly two months before its release date – voluntarily this time.
So far it looks like the set contains better cards than initially expected. It is not only giant creatures with high casting costs and low price tags, but contains some of the most overpriced cards (for the amount they are actually used in tournament play), “desperately” needed for Modern and Legacy play:
Ancestral Vision, Horizon Canopy, Grove of the Burnwillows, Flusterstorm, Magus of the Moon, Æther Vial, Mana Drain, Thoughtseize, Cryptic Command, Glimpse the Unthinkable, Bloodghast, Oblivion Stone, Auriok Champion, Primeval Titan, Archangel of Thune, ... and Mishra's Bauble.
You might want to jump onto the cards which didn't make the list, like Rishadan Port, Chalice of the Void, Engineered Explosives, Ensnaring Bridge, etc. - but remember to move in and out relatively quickly because Masters 25 is going to deliver many of the missing pieces in March next year.
I will do a more in-depth analysis of the entire set next week when I am actually back from my vacation. My first impression of Iconic Masters is that it isn't going to be a super valuable set, but definitely more valuable (and therefore more opened) than I initially expected.
Until then, enjoy all the bits of extra information about Ixalan, Iconic Masters, and Unstable, which you will get to see on social media during the weekend.
