The new Soldier power finds itself concentrated mainly in five cards: Fortified Beachhead is a carefree dual land that can double as a team boost later. Recruitment Officer has an expensive ability but a great body at rate. Harbin, Vanguard Aviator is another decent early play and comes with a massive endgame bonus. Skystrike Officer flies, creates tokens, and draws cards, while not just dying to any shock or Fatal Push. Finally, Zephyr Sentinel offers some protection, some potential for enter-the-battlefield shenanigans, and also just happens to be a 3-power flier for two mana most of the time.
All five of these cards have found their way into—basically created—several new Pioneer decks. Preliminary results look quite promising, in either meaning of the word: At the time of writing it was still to early to tell for sure, and I'm relying on lists from appropriately named "Preliminary" events here. You can find two very different examples below.
This isn't about The Brothers' War alone, mind. Soldiers have been mobilizing for months now. It's just, no one batted an eye at Valiant Veteran because they weren't ready to battle yet. But Soldier of the Pantheon, Kytheon, Hero of Akros // Gideon, Battle-Forged, and Thraben Inspector have been among Pioneer's best one-drops for ages. Everyone knows Thalia's Lieutenant and Thalia, Guardian of Thraben. Indeed, most of the recent recruits as well as most of the classics are both Soldier and Human, able to reap either tribe's benefits.
What the best build is remains undetermined. Some lists take the traditional Collected Company route. Others create a ton of tokens with Raise the Alarm and Resolute Reinforcements, all at instant speed, interacting magnificently with both Protect the Negotiators and Make Disappear. Combine this with Skystrike Officer and some mass pump, and you got yourself an army.
