I'd like to see this card named 'swords to plowshares'. Some how it makes more sense for me.
It would only trigger one's own landfall ability, if Path to Exile targets a creature that is being controlled by the same person casting Path to Exile. Then that player (you) may search a land and put it into play and then Landfall triggers, clearly stating : 'under your control'.
