Gentry is a budget Constructed format for Magic: the Gathering and is based on Standard format. It was designed to allow everyone access to a constructed environment with a comparatively low financial entry level.

Rules Specific to Gentry

  • Only cards printed in Standard legal sets since (and including) the previous year's fall release may be used for deck construction. This includes Sample, Welcome, and Planeswalkers Decks released during that time. However, it does not include cards from the Masterpiece Series.
  • The Main deck must contain at least 60 cards, and the sideboard can have up to 15 cards.
  • A maximum of 15 uncommon cards are allowed in the deck
  • A maximum of 4 Rares and/or Mythics are allowed in your combined Main Deck & Sideboard. You are only allowed to play 1 copy of each Rare and/or Mythic card.
Note: Planeswalker decks are legal for use as well, and feature important cards for Gentry at common rarity. Cards such as; Cinder Barrens, Forsaken Sanctuary, Foul Orchard, Highland Lake, Meandering River, Submerged Boneyard, Timber Gorge and Tranquil Expanse. These are a set of non-basic lands that produce two different colors of mana, but they enter the battlefield tapped.
