V Special Series 08: CLAN SELECTION PLUS Vol.2 is the second of the two CLAN SELECTION PLUS series that Bushiroad is delivering upon the Standard format, spicing things up several notches. Finally, each display includes a Quick Shield with a random symbol. CLAN SELECTION PLUS Vol.2 releases on 2 April 2021 and the manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) of each booster pack is 5,00 €.

When the Best Armor Is Plot Armor

Whether we like it or not, Royal Paladin and Kagero are in an eternal dispute for the spotlight. V Special Series 08 is no exception to this continuing trend.

On the side of Royal Paladin, the fighter chosen was Pure Heart Jewel Knight, Ashlei, the leader of the Jewel Knights archetype. This elite group chooses to wear and use armor and weapons that are embedded with gorgeous gemstones and jewels containing magical power, known as Magical Jewels, and as you might imagine, they are great in the Cardfight!! Vanguard game. This new version of Ashlei has two abilities: At the end of the battle, if she attacked while on Vanguard Circle, by paying [Soul Blast (2)], she can tutor for two grade two or less Jewel Knights and call them to separate the Rear-Guard circles. Her second ability is a throwback to the [Breakride] days. When another unit is placed on her circle, by paying [Counter Blast (1)], the placed unit gets [Critical]+1 until the end of turn. Can Kagero keep up with Ashlei?

The Return of DDD

Dauntless Drive Dragon is the representative of Kagero in this collection, and just like Ashlei, the [Breakride] vibes are through the roof. Dauntless has always been an extremely aggressive unit that granted some kind of [Stand] effect when rode upon. In his V Series version, he was three different abilities and the first one is for the unlucky players – at the end of the battle when Dauntless Drives Checks two or more non-trigger units, one front-row Rear-Guard gets [Power]+10000. A cute skill, but the sauce comes next since this flame dragon can discard three cards from the hand to [Stand] once again, after attacking, if the player has four or more cards in their hand. The final ability, just like the [Breakride] era, is triggered with [Ride], in which Dauntless gives that unit his first two skills, including the re-[Stand] clause. Multiple attacks with the Vanguard have always been one key strategy to win the game and it seems to be the specialty of Dauntless Drive Dragon.

V Special Series 08: CLAN SELECTION PLUS Vol.2 gives the last 12 clans the support that they were promised when the first collection was announced. A lot of iconic units returned with this collection alongside Ashlei and Dauntless, so this is the perfect product for nostalgic fans and new players that want to learn more about the past of this great game.
