The annual Mega Tins (or in this case, Gold Sarcophagus Tin) always come with a set of exquisite promo cards from well deserved reprints, like Pot of Desires and Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit to previously OCG-exclusive cards in previous years. This year's Tin is no exception. With the Yu-Gi-Oh! 20th Anniversary in Japan, some amazing cards were released to celebrate the event; the Gold Sarcophagus Tins are bringing previously Japanese-exclusive cards to the TCG!
Each Tin contains three Mega Packs and five out of 14 Prismatic Secret Rare variant cards (not to be confused with the new rarity released in Rising Rampage). The promo cards include two of six brand-new cards with Kazuki Takahashi artwork; two of five cards from the original Yu-Gi-Oh! anime, including the God Cards; and one of three new World Premiere cards.
Last February 2019, the 20th Anniversary Legend Collection came out in Japan. It included five brand-new cards with artwork done by Kazuki Takahashi himself (the creator of Yu-Gi-Oh!) and in the 2019 Gold Sarcophagus Tin, they’re coming to the YGO TCG!
One is a brand-new version of Exodia. Exodia, the Legendary Defender is a Level 10 behemoth clad in black, doing what Exodia cards do best: winning you the game. The catch, however, is that he needs five Tributes to be summoned and to destroy a fiend monster owned by your opponent. Another classic archetype gaining a new card are the Red-Eyes monsters with Red-Eyes Alternative Black Dragon. This DARK dragon monster can Special Summon itself from your hand by Tributing another Red-Eyes monster from your hand or field. Additionally, when destroyed by your opponent, you can Special Summon another Red-Eyes monster from your GY. Lastly, if you Special Summon the original Red-Eyes B. Dragon with this effect, its ATK gets doubled to 4800!
Besides these new cards supporting older archetypes, the Gold Sarcophagus Tins include three brand-new World Premiere cards focused on stopping various strategies popular in the metagame: dumping cards in the graveyard, spamming the field with monsters, and a way to combat against a first turn “unbreakable” board. These are reminiscent of cards like Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring and Gnomaterial, so have high hopes for these cards. Last but not least, the Legendary Egyptian God Cards are included in these Sarcophagi, also with beautiful artwork by Kazuki Takahashi. All are stored in a sturdy tin with a design based on the iconic Spell card, Gold Sarcophagus.
The 2019 Gold Sarcophagus Tin releases on 29 August 2019 with an MSRP of $ 19.99 (approx. 17,98 €).
