Speed Duels is here to stay! After the successful release of the first batch of Starter Decks, the brand-new game mode returns with its first booster set. This 50-card expansion features 45 new Speed Duel cards (cards that were already known from the TCG, but new to Speed Duels) and five new Skill cards. Among these is a brand-new character – the spooky Bonz! Bonz ("Ghost" Kotsuzuka) is well known in the anime for his creepy undead deck strategies and this new set definitely includes many of his favorite cards.
One of the new cards in Arena of Lost Souls is an infamous one: Sphere Kuriboh. This DARK Monster card has been a menace in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links video game "printed" in the first set of the game and still relevant to this day. So, it’s only fitting that this fiend is also getting printed in the first booster pack of Speed Duels. The effect of this tiny creature is simple: When an opponent's monster declares an attack, you can discard Sphere Kuriboh. When you do, you can change the attacking monster to its defense position. Not only does the card defend your life points, but it also leaves your opponent’s monsters defenseless to your strong attackers. This single monster can turn the result of a match from a loss to a win with a simple discard.
Aside from Bonz and his horde of Zombies, Arena of Lost Souls also brings powerful staples that support Ishizu Ishtar's Gravekeeper's. After his introduction in Speed Duel Starter Decks: Destiny Masters, Ishizu is back with new cards and a new Skill making Gravekeeper's more powerful than ever. Gravekeeper's are a well-known in the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG and this archetype will definitely leave its mark in this set.
Then there are the Royal Knights making their debut. Yami Yugi also gets some support in this expansion, so that you can finally pull off an unbeatable royal flush. Arcana Knight Joker is a whopping Level 9 LIGHT warrior monster that can only be Fusion Summoned with Queen's Knight + Jack's Knight + King's Knight. As the first and only Fusion Monster with 3800 ATK (and 2500 DEF), your opponents better watch out for this Joker of the deck – he also comes with a Quick Effect, royal courtiers.
Speed Duel: Arena of Lost Souls launches on 28 March 2019 and contains 50 cards (34 Commons, eight Super Rares, eight Ultra Rares, five Skill cards) with an MSRP of 0,99 € per booster pack.
