Legendary Dragons Awaken in Battles of Legend: Armageddon!

Another year, another Battles of Legend set! These sets are always big hits because they include both reprints as well as imported cards from the Japanese Collector’s Pack of that year. One of the highlights of Battles of Legend: Armageddon is the retread of iconic Dragon-types with Chaos Emperor, the Dragon of Armageddon taking the spotlight. This card was previously only released as a YCS prize card - but it's now available in this set! Battles of Legend: Armageddon includes 92 cards in total with 33 secret rares and 59 ultra rares. Each pack contains five cards with one secret rare and four ultra rares and has a manufacturer's standard retail price (MSRP) of around 3,99 €.

Rockin’ On with the New Fossil Cards

Rock-types are a dominant strategy in the competitive Yu-Gi-Oh! scene right now, with Adamancipators and cards like Block Dragon remaining at full power. But how about adding even more spice to this strategy or even successfully countering it? The Fossil monsters debuted in the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX anime used by Jim Crocodile Cook and their release has been hotly anticipated by fans ever since they debuted. Now that time has finally come! The key card of these Fossil monsters is their Spell card, Fossil Fusion, which summons a Fossil Fusion monster by banishing the materials from either player’s graveyard, and even giving the summoned monster immunity to being targeted by monster effects if you used an opponent’s monster for its summon.

The Fossil archetype has quite an extensive assortment of Fusion monsters to summon, which makes it so you can summon them at any moment against most decks you’ll encounter! These Fusions take one rock-type monster + any other monster of a certain range of levels (level 4 or lower, level 5-6, or level 7 or higher) to summon. Not only can summoning these monsters  interrupt your opponent’s GY, but they also have powerful effects of their own like Fossil Warrior Skull King who can steal monsters from your opponent’s grave or Fossil Warrior Skull Bone who can banish itself from the grave to pop a monster on the field.

The Chaos Keeps Expanding

While Toon Chaos brought along alot of new cards boosting the Chaos strategy, Battles of Legend: Armageddon reprints a previous YCS prize card that also supports the Chaos cards. Chaos Emperor, the Dragon of Armageddon is a Pendulum version of the iconic Chaos Emperor Dragon and the namesake of this set. Since it is a Pendulum Monster, it can be used in different ways with both a powerful Pendulum and Monster effect. Chaos Emperor’s Pendulum effect retrieves one of your banished Dragons by paying 1000 LP and destroying itself.

While that might seem like a bit much, Pendulum cards go to the extra deck face-up after being destroyed, and Chaos Emperor has a way of Special Summoning itself from there! By banishing 1 LIGHT and 1 DARK monster from your grave, it can Special Summon itself from either your hand or face-up extra deck. When summoned to the field, you get access to its monster effect: For the hefty cost of half your LP, you send all cards that you control to the GY, except the ones in the extra monster zones. Then you can send that many cards your opponent controls, and, additionally, you burn your opponent for 300 LP for each card sent this way.
