The Latest Look Back - Battles of Legend: Relentless Revenge

In the Official Card Game (OCG), they're Collectors Packs, booster packs that build on iconic archetypes from Yu-Gi-Oh!'s past. In the Trading Card Game (TCG), they're called Battles of Legend, and they feature cards from the legends of Yu-Gi-Oh!'s past. This time around, we're getting Battles of Legend: Relentless Revenge, a booster pack that includes cards used by Yu-Gi-Oh! anime characters like Duke Devlin, Z-one, Leon von Schroeder, and Varis. This expansion was released on 29 June 2018 and will bring back classic Trap Cards from the original anime. Now what about the new stuff!

A New Topologic Dragon Attacking from a Unique Angle

Perhaps one of the most interesting cards from this new expansion is a new Link Monster – Topologic Gumblar Dragon. He has somewhat high summoning requirements (2+ Effect Monsters), but he allows his controller to strip cards from the opponent's hand by Special Summoning in zones his arrows point to. Additionally, he can forcibly discard two cards from the opponent's hand when the card is Extra Linked. If the opponent has no cards in hand because of this, he inflicts 3000 damage to the opponent. With a healthy 3000 ATK, Gumblar Dragon is a real threat to your opponent's life, as well as one of the very few ways to interact with your opponent's hand in the YGO TCG. However, it remains to be seen whether or not these effects will be enough to justify Gumblar Dragon's difficult activation requirements. Either way, it will make for an interesting build-around card.

New Fairy Tale Cards and Returning Trap Cards

Battles of Legend: Relentless Revenge isn't only host to shiny new Link Monsters. Some of Yu-Gi-Oh!'s most iconic Traps also make an appearance. Both Bottomless Trap Hole and Solemn Judgment are present in this expansion. Both cards have been, at various points throughout their lifetime, on the Forbidden & Limited List and both cards have seen extensive play in competitive Yu-Gi-Oh! They aren't particularly hard to get, but they are certainly interesting, especially for nostalgic players who enjoy cracking packs, hoping to see some of the true greats of Yu-Gi-Oh!'s Trap Cards.

Fairy Tale cards are also receiving some support in the form of Glass Slippers, a unique Equip Spell Card that another new card, Cinderella, can use to reduce the attack of opposing monsters, as well as prevent them from attacking. But regardless of whether you want to mess around with the new Fairy Tale cards or if you are nostalgic for classic cards like Cyber Dragon, Battle of Legend: Relentless Revenge has got you covered with a wide variety of archetypes from throughout Yu-Gi-Oh!'s history.
