While Legendary Duelists: Rage of Ra introduced new support for the Winged Dragon of Ra in the form of a booster set, the support for the other two Gods will be released in two different pre-constructed decks! Egyptian God Deck: Obelisk the Tormentor and Egyptian God Deck: Slifer the Sky Dragon features supports that help you bring out legendary cards, as well as brand new ones that specifically support the God cards. Anime fans of the Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise will rejoice seeing each God’s signature attack, like Obelisk’s Fist of Fate finally being made as part of the TCG.
Egyptian God Deck: Obelisk the Tormentor contains 40 cards, consisting of four ultra rares, four super rares, and 32 commons.
The God cards are strong on their own, but do struggle standing their ground against more competitive decks. For this reason, any piece of support these cards can get is a welcome one! Egyptian God Deck: Obelisk the Tormentor contains Obelisk’s signature attack as a new Spell card. Fist of Fate is a quick-play spell that requires you to control a monster who’s original name is Obelisk the Tormentor, which shouldn’t be a big deal for a dedicated deck. It then negates the effect of one of your opponent’s monsters and destroys it, as well as negating its effects and the effects of cards with the same name for the rest of the turn. Additionally, if it was activated during the main phase, it acts similarly to Harpie's Feather Duster, destroying all your opponent’s spells and traps - a nice effect to combo with Obelisk’s effect that destroys all monsters your opponent controls. Fist of Fate’s effect is very powerful and the fact that your opponent can’t respond to its activation makes it a very serious threat to their strategy.
Tributing your opponent’s monsters has always been a great way of dealing with opposing threats. The strategy of Kaiju monsters has proven this time and time again, as well as cards like the Winged Dragon of Ra - Sphere Mode. The Egyptian God decks gives the other two Gods a way to Sphere Mode your opponent with the new Spell card: Soul Crossing. Featuring art depicting the scene where Kaiba tributes Ishizu’s monsters to summon his Obelisk, Soul Crossing stays very true to that scene. It allows you to tribute your opponent’s monsters for the Tribute Summon of your Divine-Beast monster. This comes with a price, however, as you cannot activate more than one card or effect until the end of your next turn except for the effects of your Divine-Beast monster’s effects.
The Egyptian God Decks also include a bunch of existing cards to bolster your godly strategies. Think of cards like Ra’s Disciple that can easily get you more tribute fodder to summon your Gods, Mound of the Bound Creator to protect them or even search them from your deck, and probably some token-generating to facilitate Obelisk’s destruction effect.
Egyptian God Deck: Obelisk the Tormentor releases on 14 May 2021 alongside Egyptian God Deck: Slifer the Sky Dragon and each Structure Deck has a manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) of 9,99 EUR.
