The 37th Structure Deck for the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game will be released in April 2017. Like most other Structure Decks that aren't using any cards in the Extra Deck, it comes packed with exactly 40 cards. On top of that, you'll also get an "Ancient Gear Token" that can be summoned with the effect of the new support card Ancient Gear Catapult (as the name indicates, it allows you to throw "Ancient Gear" monsters at your opponent with relative ease, so make sure to bring a first aid kit to your Duels.
The theme of the Structure Deck are Machine Type monsters and rather than trying to upgrade just 1 existing archetype, Konami decided to combo the "Ancient Gear" monsters with the Gadgets. The latter are known for their "floater" mechanic - if you summon any of them, you can search your deck for another Gadget, which means you'll rarely run out of monsters and you can easily generate some card advantage. The "Ancient Gear" monsters on the other hand are famous for their heavy hitters that often inflict piercing damage. Additionally, they will almost always prevent your opponent from activating Spells or Traps during the Battle Phase, making it even harder for him to stem the bleeding.
The Structure Deck tries to combine the advantages of both archetypes so you will always have some sort of field presence and at the same time, you have access to boss monsters that can decide a Duel with just a few quick attacks. One of the cards that has already been confirmed is named Ancient Gear Gadget, which means it will be searchable with the effects of your Gadgets and on top of that, it will prevent your opponent from activating either Spells, Traps or Monster effects during the Battle Phase. A brand new boss monster is Ancient Gear Reactor Dragon which boasts a solid 3000 ATK and 3000 DEF. If you Tribute an "Ancient Gear" monster, it inflicts piercing damage and if you Tribute a Gadget, it can make a second attack during each Battle Phase. It also stops your opponent from activating Spells or Traps after it declared an attack, so it will be almost impossible for him to not take any damage once you managed to summon this beast, err Dragon to the field. You also get to destroy 1 Spell or Trap after a successful attack with it.
We're looking forward to seeing those 2 different archetypes working together. In our opinion, it's a great idea to boost not just 1 but 2 different monster families with a single Structure Deck as that means that more fans of these archetypes will benefit from the new supporting cards.
