On 10 August 2018, the new Structure Deck: Powercode Link arrives in the YGO TCG. The Structure Deck brings loads of new support to the brand new Cyberse archetype and the Link mechanic. This set is perfect for those who are looking to Link Summon with ease.
One of the new cards in the set is the star of the deck, Powercode Talker. This new member of the Code Talker family is a LINK-3 monster. Once per turn, he can negate the effects of a face-up monster on the field. When he battles, Powercode Talker can Tribute one monster he points to in order to double his original ATK during the damage calculation. The card is definitely a powerful attacker, just like the other Code Talkers.
However, Powercode Talker isn’t alone. He also brings in two "special" friends to the TCG: LANphorhynchus and Traffic Ghost (names unconfirmed). These two Link Monsters are quite easy to understand. LANpholinkus is a LINK-2 monster with two arrows, down-left and down-right. Traffic Ghost is a LINK-3 monster with all three arrows pointing down. Both have no Effect. Their sole purpose is to make it easy for Duelists to Summon from the extra deck. These two generic monsters may not seem powerful, but they can easily open extra deck zones, making them quite useful.
Behind Powercode Talker, on the cover pack of the Structure Deck, stands Segmental Dragon (Level 7, Cyberse). This powerful Cyberse dragon boasts of 2600 ATK. He can be Normal Summoned without Tributing, halving his attack to 1300. If Segmental Dragon was Normal Summoned, you can destroy him. When you do, you can destroy all monsters in the Main Monster Zones with less than or equal to his ATK! This is a Quick Effect thus it can be used during your opponent’s turn.
Segmental Dragon is only one of the many new Cyberse monsters in this new Structure Deck. Duelists also get to meet Lady Debug (Level 4, Cyberse). If she is Normal or Special Summoned, she can add one Level 3 or lower Cyberse monster from your deck to your hand, enabling you to add Flame Bufferlo (Level 3, Cyberse). If Flame bufferlo leaves the field face-up, you can discard one Cyberse monster and draw two cards. Flame Bufferlo is an excellent monster to Link with. One of the monsters to discard is Sea Archiver (Level 3, Cyberse). When a monster is Summoned to a zone a Link Monster is pointing towards while Sea Archiver is in the graveyard or your hand, you can Special Summon him – once per turn of course. These new monsters work together extremely well and make Cyberse a type to be reckoned with.
Last but not least, Packet Link is a new Normal Trap card which can only be used in Main Phase 2. This makes the card slow, but its Effect makes it worth the wait! When activated, you can Special Summon ANY number of Level 2 or lower monsters with different names from your hand, deck, and/or graveyard to zones Link Monsters point to. This Effect, combined with the new Cyberse monsters, results in great advantage and swings in the board state.
The new Structure Deck promises an exciting future for the Cyberse archetype. Besides the new cards, there are also plenty of reprints currently unknown to the TCG. With the release of Powercode Link, the wave of Cyberse decks will be complete and the archetype will finally be meta-relevant.
Structure Deck: Powercode Link comes with 43 cards and has a manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) of $ 9.99 (8,58 €).
